About Our Founder and Executive Chef

Chef Matthew Stone is an accomplished culinary professional with more than two decades of experience across respected kitchens and hospitality brands. A Johnson & Wales University graduate with degrees in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management, he has led high-volume fine dining, upscale casual, and concept-driven kitchens in Boston, Atlanta, and Philadelphia. His leadership at The Capital Grille and True Food Kitchen combined operational discipline with a commitment to mentoring strong culinary teams. His work on Bravo TV's Top Chef Quickfire initiative also brought that creativity to a branded dining experience built from concept through execution.

In 2020, amid the uncertainty of the pandemic, Chef Matt and his wife Rhiannon founded Dragonfly Catering to serve their community through comfort, connection, and culinary craft. Home-delivered meals grew into full-service catering, private chef experiences, artisan pop-ups, and curated events. Dragonfly evolved from a home kitchen into a shared collaborative space at Artisan Exchange before establishing its current home in Downingtown.

Today, Chef Matt leads Dragonfly's Downingtown catering and event-space operation. From elegant plated dinners and immersive tastings to bourbon pairings and interactive cooking classes, his approach remains rooted in integrity, flavor, sustainability, and community. The goal is always larger than the meal: to create thoughtful moments and make food feel like love made visible.

The leap

In 2020, Chef Matt and Rhiannon founded Dragonfly Catering — built on the belief that food is comfort, connection, and craft.

Today

Dragonfly Catering in Downingtown serves weddings, private dinners, corporate events, and the Chester County community.

How Dragonfly began

A restaurant standard, made personal.

Food is love.

After more than twenty years in professional kitchens, Matt wanted to bring the same discipline, timing, and care to gatherings that felt more personal than restaurant service. In 2020, he and Rhiannon founded Dragonfly Catering in Chester County.

They built the company around conversation. Every menu starts with the people at the table, the place they are gathering, and the season. That approach carries through weddings and showers, private chef dinners, corporate events, and community work.

Today, Dragonfly pairs chef-led catering and bartending with an intimate event space in Downingtown. The setting may change, but the standard does not: thoughtful food, attentive service, and hospitality that lets the host be present.
